The AI Value Gap survey. Where does your company actually sit?

Everyone is buying AI. Almost nobody is making new money from it. Spend flows to efficiency because it is countable. The value sits in revenue reinvention because it is not. Answer fifteen questions below and we place your business on two axes: the efficiency you have realised, and the new revenue you have created. Your quadrant appears the moment you submit.

B · The efficiency axis

How far you have actually deployed AI to run the existing business better, and whether the value showed up.

How far have you deployed AI to improve operational efficiency?
// 05
How do realised savings compare with what you expected?
// 06
If AI freed up capacity, what happened to it? The honest answer here is the one that predicts whether the saving was real.

Has AI efficiency improved the customer's experience, or shifted work onto them?
C · The revenue axis

Whether AI has helped you earn money you could not previously earn, not just spend less earning the money you already had.

FAQs

What is the AI Value Gap survey?

A short survey that places a company on two axes: operational efficiency realised from AI, and new AI-enabled revenue created. The result is a quadrant read (Not Started, Efficiency Trap, Revenue Bet, AI-Native Compounder) and a benchmark against comparable growth-stage businesses when the aggregate report ships. Free, browser-based.

Who is the survey for?

CEOs, CFOs, chairs and PE operating partners of growth-stage software and AI businesses. Also useful for boards trying to distinguish real AI value creation from AI spend. Answer for one company at a time.

What are the two axes measuring?

Axis one measures operational efficiency actually realised: cost taken out, cycle time reduced, hours removed. Axis two measures new AI-enabled revenue actually earned: new products, new segments, new pricing. Companies that score well on axis one and poorly on axis two are in the Efficiency Trap: real cost savings, no revenue upside.

What is The Efficiency Trap?

The pattern where a business spends on AI, generates real internal efficiency gains, and produces no new revenue. It is where most AI programmes land. It is not a failure of AI, it is a failure of the operating model to convert AI capability into a new product, new segment or new pricing. The fractional CGO role is often what closes that gap.

Is my answer captured?

Only if you opt in. The survey collects an optional email if the respondent wants the aggregate benchmark report when it ships. Individual answers are not shared. Skip the email field and the answer stays anonymous and browser-only.

How long does it take?

About six minutes. Fifteen questions, one page. The quadrant read appears on screen when you submit. The aggregate benchmark report ships when the sample size crosses the threshold.

What do I do with the result?

Use the quadrant read as the frame for the next board discussion about AI spend. If the read is Efficiency Trap, the question is not whether to spend more on AI but which of the AI capabilities can be repriced or productised into revenue. That is a different conversation and it changes the operating model.
