Regeneron

Ortent Life Sciences Radar, research beta. Evidence to 6 October 2026, rule set v0.4.3. Scope: AI and computation in drug discovery (T1), and research-lab digitalisation and scientific data systems (T2). The company scope is Regeneron Pharmaceuticals as a whole, including the Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC); nothing is excluded. Each ID in brackets links to its online source, and the source index at the end of this brief lists them.

Disclosure: Andrew Wyatt, Ortent's principal, was Chief Growth Officer at Sapio Sciences until April 2026. Software vendors, including Sapio and its competitors, appear in this brief only where public sources name them.

Status: research beta. Ortent has reviewed this brief; it has not been independently validated. It summarises activity identified in public sources. Search coverage varies by company and is set out under Coverage limits, and zero identified items does not mean no activity. It does not predict buying intent or measure operational maturity. For this radar, process and CMC development are grouped with manufacturing and excluded from the research-lab theme (T2); such work appears as context where it helps.

Summary

The reviewed sources identify no initiative involving Regeneron with a qualifying commitment change in either theme in either year to 5 October 2026. That is a search result, not evidence that Regeneron made no such commitment. The in-window items found are data-access deals around RGC, venture investments, enterprise AI governance and clinical or commercial AI, all recorded as context [>REGN-E05 to >E12, >E15, >E16, >E20, >E22, >E31, >E32]. One reviewer read RGC's 2030 goal to integrate AI and big data tools for drug discovery as a T1 commitment; under that reading T1 would be one in the year to 5 October 2026 in both count views [>REGN-E13]. The sources do describe existing capabilities first disclosed in that year: an executive statement that human genetics lets Regeneron use AI to pick targets, and job postings describing machine learning in early discovery, LIMS/ELN development, a scientific data lake and RGC sequencing informatics [>REGN-E18, >E25, >E23, >E26, >E28]. Lab automation in Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD) is process development and is recorded as context under the v0.4.3 theme 2 boundary [>REGN-E27]. The 6 October recruitment snapshot contains 7 relevant R&D requisition postings across the two themes, none with ambiguous vacancy status [>REGN-R05, >R07, >R18, >R29, >R30, >R31, >R33]. These observations identify programmes and functions for further investigation; they do not establish procurement opportunity, deployment completion or net hiring.

Announced commitments

We identified no qualifying commitment change, and no qualifying theme-linked negative change, in T1 or T2 in either year in the searched sources. No commitments table is shown, because no row counts as change. That is a search result, not evidence that none occurred.

The dated actions found in both years are data-access deals around RGC, venture investments, enterprise AI governance and clinical or commercial AI. Under rules AR6, AR7a, C42-3, C42-7 and C42-9 these are context, not commitments, and they are listed under Context.

The RGC 2030 goal is the only reviewer disagreement that changes a count [>REGN-E13]. A Regeneron story of 28 April 2026, introducing new responsibility goals, says that through RGC "we're committing to sequencing 10 million samples and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and big data tools to advance drug discovery and digital health solutions" [>REGN-E13]. The goal names AI and drug discovery but no programme, unit, partner, budget or resources, so it is recorded as context, a general statement of intent under rule 1. Under the alternative reading, which treats the goal as a T1 new commitment, T1 would be one in W1 by event date and one by first disclosure, and it would be Regeneron's only qualifying change [>REGN-E13]. The adjudication notes record that no rule yet settles whether a responsibility goal of this kind is a commitment.

By event date and by first disclosure, T1 is zero in W0 (5 October 2024 to 4 October 2025) and zero in W1 (5 October 2025 to 5 October 2026), and T2 is zero in both years. No milestone was disclosed in either theme. Existing capabilities first disclosed in W1 number two in T1 [>REGN-E18, >E25] and eight in T2 [>REGN-E02, >E04, >E17, >E19, >E23, >E24, >E26, >E28]; none was first disclosed in W0. They are disclosures of capabilities that already exist, not dated changes, so none counts as change. PMPD lab automation, a ninth T2 capability under rule set v0.4.2, is process development context under the v0.4.3 boundary [>REGN-E27]. The coverage table marks the partner newswire family as partial and not comparable between the years in both themes, so no comparison between the years is made. The opposite readings of borderline clarifications C42-2, C42-4 and C42-12 would change no count, because no Regeneron row is an in-licensed AI-derived asset, a company-run accelerator or a separately listed subsidiary. The adjudication notes record two further readings that would. Treating the TriNetX deal as T1, on an RGC quote in the release that the combined platforms bring "analytical and AI capabilities to help discover and develop innovative medicines", would make T1 one in W1 in both views, or two with the 2030 goal [>REGN-E11]. Treating the RGC data-access deals as T2, the reading before rule AR7a, would make T2 three in W0 and two in W1 in both views [>REGN-E05, >E07, >E08, >E10, >E11].

Identified recruitment

On 6 October 2026 the Regeneron Workday sitemaps listed 569 postings under 547 requisition numbers, by both reviewers' counts. A common title filter hit 33 requisitions, and with postings added outside the filter 40 requisitions were classified from their duties. We observed 7 relevant requisition postings in the R&D theme class, 3 T1 and 4 T2; no posting is tagged to both themes [>REGN-R05, >R30, >R33, >R07, >R18, >R29, >R31]. No Regeneron posting shows an openings field, so vacancy status is not recorded for any of the 7 and none has ambiguous vacancy status. A further 18 are plant, quality or manufacturing roles, 10 are enterprise roles, 3 are co-op placements and 2 are out of scope. These are requisition postings listed on one day, not hires, headcount or a trend.

The T1 postings describe computation applied to target discovery and early translation: - an RGC statistical genetics scientist, to analyse large-scale human genetic and phenotypic data "for the discovery and validation of new therapeutic targets" [>REGN-R30] - an associate director and a principal scientist for translational PK/PD modelling in Tarrytown, to build mechanistic models "to aid in the understanding of target biology, therapeutic modality selection/optimization" and to inform first-in-human dose selection [>REGN-R05, >R33]

Both reviewers placed the two modelling roles in T1, and the adjudication flags them as borderline under AR6. Under a stricter reading that treats dose prediction as development, both would be out of scope and the T1 split would be 1 [>REGN-R05, >R33].

The T2 postings describe lab informatics, lab data and lab automation roles: - a Senior Developer, Research and Development, in Tarrytown, for "LIMS/ELN platform development, scientific data integrations, and building AI-powered capabilities that accelerate scientific workflows" for the research and preclinical development pipeline [>REGN-R07] - a Scientific Data Product Owner in Tarrytown, to set the data strategy for Research and preclinical development data in the enterprise data lake, drawn from lab informatics systems [>REGN-R18] - an associate manager in RGC Genome Informatics, to develop sequencing informatics methods and help onboard new sequencing and informatics platforms [>REGN-R29] - a Senior Director, Research Solutions, in Hyderabad, to lead the Research Digital & Technology organisation in the India Global Capability Center and deliver scientific applications, laboratory automation, bioinformatics platforms, data engineering and AI/ML capabilities "supporting Research functions" [>REGN-R31]

One reviewer tagged the Hyderabad role to both themes. Its AI duties name no discovery activity, so it is T2 under C42-21; tagged both, the T1 split would be 4 [>REGN-R31].

A process development engineer in PMPD, to develop and validate automated methods for platform analytical assays under GLP, was counted in T2 under rule set v0.4.2. It is process development, so under the v0.4.3 theme 2 boundary it is out of scope and not counted [>REGN-R06].

Two co-op placements for 2027 are tagged to the themes but are outside the R&D count: data science and computational biology in Research (T1), and data science in Preclinical Manufacturing & Research IT, which includes data-platform migrations for research teams (T2) [>REGN-R38, >R37]. A third, in laboratory automation and robotics in PMPD, is process development and no longer carries a theme under the v0.4.3 boundary [>REGN-R36].

Enterprise postings include an Executive Director, Responsible AI & Enterprise Governance, in the Enterprise Data & AI organisation, reporting to the SVP, Chief AI Officer [>REGN-R24], and a Senior Director of product management for enterprise AI platforms and tools in the same organisation [>REGN-R13]. A Lead AI Engineer posting names drug discovery among the outcomes of enterprise AI capabilities, but its duties are enterprise platform work, so it is an enterprise role under C42-21 [>REGN-R28]. Applied AI and production ML roles in Advanced Informatics work on health, clinical and claims data and are enterprise roles under C42-22 [>REGN-R12, >R14]. Three AI/MLOps reliability engineers are in Hyderabad [>REGN-R27, >R34, >R35].

Four lab informatics roles in IOPS IT at Rensselaer support quality control systems, including lab orchestration, instrument integration and LabWare [>REGN-R01 to >R04]. They are plant and quality roles, because AR7 excludes QC release labs from T2 [>REGN-R01 to >R04]. A product manager for RGC disease-risk prediction products is out of scope [>REGN-R09].

Each posting carries a date in the job data that matches the page's relative "Posted" label. It may record a refresh, so it is not reliable.

No LinkedIn company insights were collected for Regeneron.

Technology mentions in recruitment

Mentions are classified from the exact posting wording. They do not establish installation, an incumbent contract or company-wide use. The table records 80 Regeneron mentions: 13 explicit use, 4 integration or environment, 4 required experience, 4 preferred experience and 55 alternatives. - Named as existing systems in a process development posting outside the R&D count: Hamilton Robotics, Biosero and HighRes, the "automated systems" on which the PMPD engineer is to develop and troubleshoot workflows [>REGN-R06]. - Named as existing systems in R&D postings: Sapio, Benchling and Dotmatics, the "COTS platforms" on which the R&D senior developer is to deliver solutions; recording these as explicit use is a borderline call [>REGN-R07]. This is role-specific wording. - Categories recorded as explicit use because the posting states the employer's own system: "our enterprise data lake" for Research and preclinical development data [>REGN-R18], and "liquid-handling robotics used across Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development (PMPD) labs" in a co-op posting [>REGN-R36]. - Integration responsibilities: the R&D senior developer is to build integrations between scientific instruments, LIMS/ELN systems and enterprise data platforms [>REGN-R07]. The Hyderabad role leads delivery of laboratory automation, bioinformatics platforms and AI/ML capabilities, with no product named [>REGN-R31]. - Required experience: proficiency in a Databricks language [>REGN-R18] and Claude among analytic tools [>REGN-R30]. - Preferred experience: Sapio LIMS/ELN [>REGN-R07]. - Lists of examples: Sapio, Benchling or Dotmatics as the LIMS or ELN platform a candidate knows, TetraScience for instrument integrations, and LangChain, LlamaIndex, Claude/Anthropic or OpenAI APIs as agent frameworks [>REGN-R07]; Green Button Go and Cellario as scheduling software [>REGN-R06]; ELN, LIMS, instrument and registration systems as data sources, and Databricks "or a comparable lakehouse platform" [>REGN-R18]; Phoenix NLME, NONMEM, Monolix, ADAPT, MATLAB and SimBiology [>REGN-R05, >R33]; PacBio, Illumina, Olink and Ultima as "new and existing" platforms, and NVIDIA and Google Brain as example technology partners [>REGN-R29].

Sapio, Benchling and Dotmatics are the only LIMS or ELN products recorded as explicit use in an R&D posting, all in one posting, and that call is borderline [>REGN-R07]. Outside R&D, a quality IT posting names Empower CDS and SDMS in Regeneron's IT applications portfolio [>REGN-R01], a quality posting prefers LabWare LIMS and ELN certification [>REGN-R04], and enterprise postings name AWS and Kubernetes and "the enterprise LLM and AI Gateway platform" as systems the role is to run [>REGN-R14, >R28].

Deployment evidence

  • On the Q4 2025 results call of 30 January 2026, a Regeneron executive said the company bases its choices on large-scale human genetics, "which allows us to use AI in ways that other people can't. And that allows us to pick targets" [>REGN-E18]. This is a company statement of existing practice. It names no programme, team or start date.
  • A co-op posting dated 2 October 2026 describes a Research team "which applies machine learning and data analysis to early-stage drug discovery problems"; the duties include building models to predict how a genetic variant affects a protein [>REGN-E25, >R38].
  • Regeneron's annual reports since the FY2023 report state that "RGC utilizes laboratory automation and innovative approaches to cloud computing to achieve high-quality throughput", first published before both windows [>REGN-E01].
  • A company story of 13 January 2026 says DNAnexus cloud infrastructure, a partnership begun in 2013, "underpins everything from large-scale sequencing projects to trusted research environments used by global collaborations" [>REGN-E02]. Earlier public sources on the partnership probably exist, so its first disclosure in W1 reflects the search. The same story says that, through the Ultima Genomics collaboration, RGC is "introducing more automation to improve coverage uniformity", which is work in progress with no date [>REGN-E04].
  • An RGC posting dated 5 October 2026 refers to "RGC's joint development efforts with technology partners (e.g. NVIDIA, Google Brain)" on base-calling and variant calling. The partners are named only as examples, so the posting does not establish a partnership, and the search that would check it was not run [>REGN-E28].
  • The 2025 Responsibility Report lists "real-time automated data acquisition and visualization as well as instrument automation in our development work" among Regeneron's AI and automation uses [>REGN-E17]. "Development work" is not further defined.
  • Postings describe the enterprise data lake for research and preclinical data and LIMS/ELN development on COTS platforms [>REGN-E26, >E23], and automated assay workflows in PMPD labs, which are process development context under the v0.4.3 boundary [>REGN-E27]. Their start dates are not stated.
  • A vendor webinar notice on PR Newswire, dated 1 October 2026, invites attendees to "learn how Regeneron is using a connected laboratory informatics ecosystem to improve R&D efficiency and scientific decision-making", which the notice says is "enabled by the configurable and scalable Sapio Platform" [>REGN-E24]. It has no Regeneron quote and does not say which labs use the system. The webinar is on 20 October 2026, after W1.
  • Apart from RGC scale figures, more than 2 million samples sequenced by the FY2023 report and environments that let over 150 collaborators work with RGC [>REGN-E01, >E02], we found no adoption or benefit metric for these items in the reviewed sources.

Context

Postings describe an Enterprise Data & AI organisation and an SVP, Chief AI Officer to whom its governance lead reports [>REGN-E16, >R24]. A posting first seen on 6 October 2026 calls the organisation "newly established" [>REGN-R13]. No creation or appointment date is stated, and no discovery remit, so this is context under C42-7 [>REGN-E16]. The 2025 Responsibility Report names a Board Digital Technology Committee in place since April 2026 [>REGN-E15]. A Responsible AI position statement, showing only "Last Updated: July 2025", says Regeneron uses AI to support R&D and operations [>REGN-E29]. Regeneron introduced AskRegn-AI, an internal large language model tool, in 2024 [>REGN-E14], and its FY2025 10-K says it is "increasingly utilizing" AI-based solutions across its operations [>REGN-E30].

Under rule AR7a, RGC's data deals are data access, not T2 commitments, and none states AI or computational discovery work, so none counts in T1: - 13 January 2025: a collaboration with Truveta and its health systems to sequence up to 10 million volunteers, with a $119.5 million investment in Truveta's Series C [>REGN-E05, >E06]. - January 2025: RGC was selected to generate proteomic assay data for the UK Biobank Pharma Proteomics Project [>REGN-E07]. - 19 May 2025: an agreement to buy 23andMe's business lines and Biobank for $256 million. Media reported on 16 June 2025 that Regeneron was outbid and became backup bidder [>REGN-E08, >E09]. - 5 March 2026: RGC joined the Alliance for Genomic Discovery as its tenth member, in a partner release quoting RGC [>REGN-E10]. - 2 April 2026: licensed access to TriNetX de-identified health data on about 300 million individuals, with an investment of up to $200 million in TriNetX [>REGN-E11, >E12].

The Truveta and TriNetX releases say the deals will extend or expand Regeneron's own sequence-linked and health record-linked database [>REGN-E05, >E11]. The adjudication applied the reviewers' shared data-access reading and records it as not settled.

Venture: Regeneron Ventures, a health care fund launched in April 2024 before both windows, co-led Think Bioscience's $55 million Series A, announced on 20 January 2026. The investee states a synthetic biology platform, so this is context under C42-3 [>REGN-E21, >E22]. Regeneron's 2022 investment in Ultima Genomics, a sequencing company, is also context [>REGN-E03].

Clinical and commercial AI: a media report of May 2025 describes a Viz.ai partnership with Sanofi and Regeneron for AI-supported COPD patient management [>REGN-E20]. An Appian award release of 28 April 2026 cites a Regeneron approach that embeds generative AI in study design and protocol evaluation [>REGN-E32]. Veeva announced on 25 August 2026 that Regeneron has committed to Veeva Vault CRM globally [>REGN-E31]. A Zifo summit release of 5 May 2026 says a Regeneron speaker "detailed the democratization of lab data"; a talk topic establishes no system [>REGN-E33].

The 23andMe outcome is not a theme negative, because the deal was data access with no theme linkage in the source [>REGN-E09]. We identified no qualifying pause or cancellation in the two themes in the searched sources. Both reviewers ran the negative-event search for each theme. That is a search result, not evidence that none occurred.

Coverage limits

  • Search families complete for both themes in both years: the company press release archive, annual reports and 10-Ks, results presentations and transcripts, consortium announcements, academic collaborations, the venture arm and the negative-event searches. The one-search-per-event-type family is complete for T1. It is partial for T2, and the partner newswire family is partial in every cell.
  • Searches not run, for lack of search budget: site-restricted Business Wire and GlobeNewswire searches for Regeneron AI, machine learning or lab automation releases (both reviewers); a T2 search for Regeneron LIMS, ELN or laboratory automation vendor deals; and a search for RGC work with NVIDIA or Google that would check the posting-based partner mention [>REGN-E28]. One reviewer ran its partnership and acquisition searches as one combined query.
  • Business Wire blocked access and GlobeNewswire was unreachable for both reviewers. PR Newswire search returned results only from about October 2025, so W0 partner releases are thinly covered.
  • newsroom.regeneron.com and investor.regeneron.com blocked one reviewer. The other reached investor.regeneron.com only with curl's default User-Agent, a departure from the generic browser User-Agent the network rules require, flagged for a ruling. Rows citing those copies include the Q4 2025 call and the Truveta, UK Biobank, 23andMe and TriNetX releases [>REGN-E05 to >E08, >E11, >E12, >E18]. None counts as change.
  • careers.regeneron.com blocked both reviewers, so postings were read on the Workday tenant. Search results showed four AI postings on careers.regeneron.com that were not in the Workday sitemaps on 6 October 2026; they were not recorded.
  • No 10-K was read from SEC EDGAR, which requires contact details in the user agent. 10-K first-public dates rest on signature dates and are uncertain [>REGN-E01, >E30].
  • The UK Biobank site, Bio-IT World, Xtalks, biotecnika, F4 and Superscout also blocked access. One reviewer requested the Bio-IT World and Xtalks article pages after their robots.txt returned 403; neither page is used.
  • Rows drawn from job postings take the date in the job data as their first public date; it may record a refresh [>REGN-E16, >E19, >E23, >E25 to >E28].
  • Patents are not among the searched source families in the coverage table. Publication counts are raw Europe PMC query counts and are not events.
  • Recruitment: both reviewers enumerated the 569 Workday postings and applied a common title filter. Only the 40 requisitions classified are in the table.
  • Two independent reviewers searched Regeneron, and the final rows are their source-verified union. That union contains rows that each reviewer missed, but it does not show that both did not miss the same events. The Q4 2025 call statement and the India unit were found by one reviewer, and the Sapio items and most posting-based capabilities by the other [>REGN-E18, >E19, >E23, >E24, >E25 to >E28].

Two questions to investigate (Ortent's interpretation)

  1. Lab informatics and lab data work sits in several units: an R&D senior developer for LIMS/ELN on COTS platforms [>REGN-R07, >E23], a scientific data product owner for the enterprise data lake who works with Digital & Technology teams [>REGN-R18, >E26], PMPD lab automation, which is process development outside T2 under the v0.4.3 boundary [>REGN-R06, >R36, >E27], RGC Genome Informatics, whose sequencing labs and cloud environments are described in company sources [>REGN-R29, >E01, >E02], and the Research Digital & Technology organisation in India, whose leader is to "Lead vendor, partner, and delivery ecosystem management" [>REGN-R31, >E19]. QC lab informatics roles sit in IOPS IT at Rensselaer [>REGN-R01 to >R04]. What is the remit of each unit for LIMS, ELN, lab automation and scientific data platforms? Who decides on platform selection, and how are the interfaces between RGC informatics, the research and preclinical informatics team, the enterprise data lake and the India centre governed?
  2. AI in discovery appears in an executive statement on target selection [>REGN-E18], a Research machine learning team [>REGN-E25], RGC statistical genetics [>REGN-R30] and the RGC 2030 goal [>REGN-E13]. Meanwhile an Enterprise Data & AI organisation under an SVP, Chief AI Officer runs enterprise AI governance, including "use case intake", and enterprise AI platforms [>REGN-E16, >R24, >R13], and an enterprise AI engineering post names drug discovery among its outcomes [>REGN-R28]. RGC's data deals have come with equity investments in Truveta and TriNetX [>REGN-E06, >E12]. Who holds decision rights over AI tools for discovery: Research, RGC or the Enterprise Data & AI organisation? Does a discovery AI purchase pass through the enterprise use-case intake, and how is funding set for the 2030 goal, which states no budget or programme [>REGN-E13]?
